Roux, Arsène: Textes en parler arabe des musulmanes de Meknès (Maroc)

Édités par Harry Stroomer. 28 texts, collected from 1919 to 1927, particularily document the phonetic and morphological characteristics of the Meknès Arabic of women. The arabic texts are presented as manuscript facsimiles, the (french) translations have been typeset. Most of the sample texts can be labelled ethnographic, some texts are folktales, songs, riddles, and were selected by Roux to illustrate the specific sound changes in the speech of women. The texts form the first part of the well-known Berberologist's thesis (1925), based on extensive field study.
